in the aftermath of the in-door smoking ban that happened here (2004), every so often they'd bring in weird nerds to the classroom to tell us that only losers smoke, which only made smoking seem like something cool the adults were trying to deprive us of.

also i can't believe the ban happened as late as 2004, like i seem to remember the smoking areas disappearing around the turn of the millennium. maybe they voluntarily shut them down.

There were a few illegal clubs i used to go to where everyone would smoke inside because having a bunch of people smoking outside would alert the authorities of the events. That was actually pretty recently like mid 2010s! Kind of funny how illegal it was, i would leave the club at like 4am smelling like i rolled around in a giant ashtray 🤣
