A frustrating thing about videogame communities is that there are always Boys for whom the game is a gigantic part of their personal identity, and for whom they have very strong opinions. This is why, with the stakes on the floor, they will be ready to write death threats when they believe a core part of the videogame design is threatened.
Of course, any successful videogame gets changed over time, either with updates or sequels. And for anyone who liked it just the way it was, these updates are ruinous.
The result is that gaming communities become full of Boys who are fantastically hostile to people who enjoy the videogame.
