bocchi the rock anime is actually. really good, huh

while k-on is an obvious comparison (both are adaptations of 4-koma about high school girls playing music) it goes a bit farther; comparing the k-on 4-koma and the anime, i thought to myself, well, how the heck did they get there from here. kyoani excellence and whatnot. and so when i read bocchi the rock in '21, when the adaptation was first announced, i didn't think that it's gonna be much. like, i loved the manga and the manga's really funny and the music video references on the opening pages (which didn't make it onto the anime sadly) made me Point at the Screen giddy. but, like, it's not gonna be k-on all over again, isn't it. it isn't even kyoani

i saw some clips of bocchi freaking out on twxtter when it was airing, and i was like, i'm glad they made it funny at least, well done on the japes. still wasn't thinking that it's gonna be special

i've only actually watched the first few episodes just now. i'm fucking overjoyed. cloverworks did done it. it's that "how did they get here from there" k-on gap again but the bocchi manga was already really funny anyway so. man i'm just.
