If you haven't seen me gush about this show: I think it's one of the best anime of the past decade. It rules so much. The character motivations shift depending on if you if you see it as metaphor, or some kind of animal magic, or just teenage hormones. It's fun but it's so interesting to unpack! And it's so interesting as a work of adaptation into 3DCG. So good! I hope you enjoy!
