they updated the manga to move the setting from the 80s to the 10s and they did next to nothing to update their depiction of new york city

i'm still not sure whether i hate that or love it lol

Banana Fish would gain nothing from reflecting safer than disneyworld nyc with no small time crooks and even more financial crooks, so if they're not gonna set it in the 80s this is the only option they had
