I dearly miss the era of flash games

Submitted by twovests in just_post (edited )

So many people, of all different ages, making these crude and stupid little games

There are a lot of polished indie and AAA games cited as "games as art", but that's ignoring all the shit out there.

All those quickly-made flash games that people found to be the best way to express themselves? Those are prime evidences of Video Game as Art

I don't just mean Dys4ia (because that is a good flash game as art), but also all the shit. The stuff that is equivalent to a 15 year old's "cringey" poem. That's the stuff.

also tower defenses

remember tower defenses

I remember when html5 was supposed to help herald another age of small little flash game like games. Nah, said the gods.

I spent a ton of time on newgrounds in middle school to the extent that I was practically raised by macromedia flash and I extremely concur, it was such a wonderful era of making stuff to make stuff!
