Story about a bizarre bootleg pac-man game

Oh my god I just fell into the biggest nostalgia hole ever.
So, in the mexican restaurant in the town I grew up, waaaay back in like 1997, there was a really weird pac-man machine that I never really forgot about. It was called pac-man heartburn.
In it, pack man was a flame, and the ghosts were firefighters. When you picked up power pellets the ghosts turned into cigarettes. Even as a 10 year old kid I thought this was a very bizarre pac-man game. Like... namco probably absolutely wouldn't allow this to be real.
Fast forward today, and I've found an only slightly different rom hack that is a recreation of pac-man heartburn. It's on the internet archive. I am now finally able to play the weird game I never got to play when we went to get mexican takeout.
