Seriousposting, has anyone here had covid? What were your first symptoms?

Submitted by twovests in just_post

I suddenly developed a sore throat that has worsened over the past hour. Like, it's surreal how fast this sore throat has onset and it's kind of scary.

I don't have any other reason to think this is covid, but this has gotten me interested in what the first symptoms of covid people experience are. And if this sudden sore throat is indeed how covid presents to people... Well, I'd be extra interested in knowing how that felt.

Everything I find online is for general symptoms of covid.

I got my bout a damn year ago, like the day after Christmas 2019, so its a little hard for me to remember. But I thought it was the flu at first - I don't recall getting a sore throat, it was more just like coughing, maybe fever, and a generally shitty feeling, all of which got worse the next day.

Oh damn. How are you feeling now? That was pretty early, when did you realize it might have been covid?

Full recovery as far as I can tell, tho it took like a month or two for me and my parents to shake it off cause we didn't really know what it was so we probably weren't treating it properly.

Us realizing it was covid was more of an after-the-fact thing, once we had recovered and the symptoms were better-known.

Yeah, just had it. My first symptom was a fever. It did onset incredibly quickly. I didn't lose smell until several days in.

Good luck, sorry this happened to you :(

For me it first came on at first as really bad asthma (i'm asthmatic), then transitioned to sore throat, huge fatigue, and my internal temperature sense being all wacky (though never quite to fever). For months afterward I wasn't able to breathe easily, again because of the asthma exacerbated by acid reflux.

I'm not sure if I had it or not but I did have what I thought at the time was a nasty cold around february last year and in retrospect it does seem like a reasonable assumption to make. It wiped me out for a week so if I did have it it wasn't pleasant but I must've had a mild version.

I often get a sore throat for a few days before any other cold symptoms show up, although I didn't get it last year when I might have had covid.
